Water and Renewable Energy

WATER

Water is a vital liquid for human beings. It is used for agriculture, drinking, as a solvent agent, extinguishing fires, food, etc. Fortunately this natural resource can be recycled by different methods that humans have developed with time, allowing for sustainable development of our society.

ENERGY

Various of these recycling methods use energy from fossil fuels. There are other types of energies that are renewable and that are obtained from nature. They have been an important in the human consumption since the old times. Today, due to the scarcity of fossil fuels, these types of energies have become more important in our society. Water is considered an alternative energy among others such as:

  • The Sun – solar energy
  • The wind – eolic energy
  • Rivers and their currents- hydraulic energy
  • The seas and oceans – Tidal energy
  • The Earth’s heat- geothermal energy
  • Waves – Wave power
  • Organic matter – biofuels, biomass
